| ..dry point, mezzotint, soft ground, a wide raking tool was used for the short even lines along the edge. Soft ground texture particles were dusted onto the right half of the plate, before being submerged into to the acid bath. This kind of entaglio textures is unigue to zinc, and copper, it allows more ink to remain on the plate before printing. It is really a texture created by natural laws of physics, similar to the patterns in a snowflake, only with powders, metals, and acid instead of water and cold air. |
